Calorify vs Other Tests

Is there a way to get all of the Calorify metrics without using a Calorify test?

The simple answer is no, but let’s explore this idea and see what it would take to get close.

The first important measurement that Calorify can give you is your personal caloric burn. Our measurement is the gold-standard for getting this personalized information. In order to estimate your burn without Calorify, you’ll likely need:

  1. A food tracking subscription ($100)

  2. A food scale ($50)

  3. Lab access for an RMR measurement ($150)

In order to brute force your way through the calculation for this one number, you’ve already spent $300 outright and taken ample time out of your day to track and weigh all of your food. Additionally, after all of this work, this is still just an estimate, as Calorify is the only way you can measure total burn.

Next, the Calorify test offers body composition metrics: lean body mass, fat mass, and body fat percentage. Calorify is just as accurate as a DEXA scan ($100) or an MRI ($3,500+), but without the time commitment.

Additionally, we can give you accurate water throughput and total body water, aka how hydrated you are. While there isn’t a set amount of water you should drink in a day (believe us - we’ve looked, and we’ll let you know when there is a scientific consensus), knowing how much water you consume daily is still key for sustainable training and living.

Finally, there are a few measurements you get with the Calorify test that can’t be found elsewhere. Physical activity level, training sustainability, and energy availability cannot be found through any other test. These metrics give you a more complete picture of how your training is going. Here, we can give you the power to ramp up your training to the maximum sustainable level possible for you, or we can tell you how much you need to back off by.

In conclusion, the Calorify test is the only way you can get body composition, hydration status, training sustainability, and your caloric burn measured–all while living freely. The doubly labeled water method is the gold standard for all of these measurements, and it’s never been easier to get access to such powerful data.
